Disbaled Teams

by Arwen Cooper

Microsoft Teams Chat being disabled was something that affected students across the district. It has been especially challenging for Yearbook and Journalism students who used the feature to reach out to students and staff. There are many reasons as to why the ability to chat between students was removed, but the main one is that students were using the chats inappropriately.

Teams Chat had a flagging system where if certain words or phrases were used the district would flag it, and this happened all the time. The student would then get called to the office and talked to about the message they sent, which took up time for things that were more important.

People believe the district wanted this messaging system to be used strictly professionally, so they decided the best idea would be to take away the student's ability to message each other, and only be able to contact their teachers. While this might have solved the problem of students getting flagged, it also affected a lot of people negatively.

“I can’t send footage to my teammates when I work on assignments for my film class,” says Liam Hoverman. Lots of students need to send pictures, videos, links, etc., to each other for assignments, which without teams messaging is a lot more steps than it needs to be.

New Gym and Tennis Courts in Fresno High School

By Hugo Meza

A second gym is being built on campus, it is going to be next to the current gym, and the aquatics center.

The new gym is being built by Davis Moreno Construction Incorporated. The gym is going to be 15,190 square feet and will cost approximately $15,438,527. It is funded by Measure M. In addition to the new gym being built there are also going to be new basketball and tennis courts. With the addition of the new tennis courts, it will now be possible for a tennis tournament to be held at Fresno High School.

This is all part of a long-term plan of action that the Fresno Unified School District has. Every other FUSD High School has a second gym, so now FHS is getting one and they are also going to build a second one at McLane as well.

FHS Principal Amy Smith, said that that we can expect to get a new cafeteria in the near future. She also said they expect the new gym to be built by next school year or at the latest it will be done by next December.

As of now, “Things seem to be on pace and are expected to be done on time.” According to Mrs. Smith.

Senior Sunrise 2025

By Ian Owdom Editor-in-Chief

Goodmorning warriors! It’s 6:30am, there is dew on the grass, blankets out, food and drinks available for FREE, and some games to help keep occupied. The music is loud and seniors are pouring in. Where will you start? Liam Wright says, “It’s too early for me to start anywhere, get out of my face.”

A good start would be a bite to eat. The variety of muffins (Pumpkin, Chocolate, and blueberry) will absolutely hit the spot. Three steps to the left you will find either a Capri sun or water to wash down your baked treat. Time to show off your spirit! “Senior Sunrise” shirts available for only $15 sold by Mrs. Walker.

A full stomach and spirit on display, its game time! A small selection consisting of ping pong and cornhole. Quickly the ping pong was swarmed while cornhole had a healthy rotation running through. As per usual senior sunrise concluded with a photo of all the seniors, this time by drone.
