Varsity Football
by Vanessa Flores
Every year, Varsity Football plays a huge part in boosting Fresno High School spirit and morale. Warrior Football has had an uneven season of wins and losses, but they worked even harder to push themselves to be better. Wins include Madera South on September 28: 6-27, and Sanger West on October 13: 47-42.
Under the direction of their head coach, Mr. Keith Pempek, these players showed commitment to this sport every day at practice from 4-6:30pm. In addition to after school practice, they also have a PE class where they can hit the weightroom daily.
Most of the football games had a special theme to help boost school spirit such as the Neon Game, Pink Game, and, of course, the Little Big Pig Game.
Girls Tennis Most Excellent Season
by Sonny Mora
Coach James Lundberg was the primary coach for the Girls Tennis team, with Mr. Eddie Olvera serving as his assistant coach, and Juanjose Lopez as the manager this season. The Girls Tennis team practiced daily from 3:45-5:30 P.M. on days when they don't have matches. The team has had an impressive season, with eight wins and six losses, and is poised to dominate their competition at the upcoming CIF Valley Playoffs.
Seven years ago, Coach James Lundberg was requested to serve as an assistant coach for the tennis program. While Coach Lundberg had experience coaching in various sports, he had never focused on tennis as a student. However, this opportunity presented a chance for him to help build the tennis program, and he decided to take the risk and try something new. Coach Lundberg has found the experience to be incredibly rewarding, and notes that he has worked with outstanding student-athletes.
