This where any student at the school can come out and introduce themselves to promote their clubs to one another. It is a great way to make friends and get outside. There are all sorts of clubs there, ones about reading, games, music, and crafts! Hundreds of kids attend and so many of them create lasting friendships.

Musician’s Club

By Rey Montano

The Musician’s Club, managed by Ms. Ekperian, is a club centered around instruments of all kinds, including guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and ukeleles. It takes place every Friday in N-20 for the purpose of nurturing musical creativity in students who choose to attend. The club is open-door, meaning anyone can come in, even if you don’t play an instrument, and just have an interest in listening or learning. The club is a great opportunity for musicians to connect, interact, and jam out.

Gardening Club

by Sonny Mora

Ms. Salazar is the main sponsor of the Gardening Club. She enjoys gardening at school and home, growing tons of plants. The meetings are either at S31 in her classroom or the garden at the pool side and gate. Ms. Salazar says she enjoys gardening and passing it onto students. Also, she wants students to be hands on growing food and having some for themselves or to share. In 2022, Beautify Fresno showed up and built the garden for the club. So, without Beautify Fresno there would not have a Garden Club.

Mud Club

by Angel Arteaga

On August 29, 2023, Fresno High School held their Club Expo during lunch where a variety of clubs came out today looking to meet new faces and welcome potential new members. Jasmin Infante is a Mud Club member. She says she joined the club because she really likes ceramics. She also shared that the club in the past has collaborated with the Fresno City College to decorate trash cans around their campus. This club is based on all things ceramics. Here they make many pieces of art such as sculptures, pots, bowls, cups, magnets and so forth. Along with creating such amazing pieces of art, they go and sell it at the Fresno High Flee Market. The Mud Club was originally formed as a fundraiser to create and sell pieces of their art for field trips for the students they were able to go to an art museum.

by Maya Tafolla

The E-Sports Club at Fresno High is a part of FUeL (Fresno Unified eSports League) and is sponsored by Mr. Felton in S-14. The club was first started in 2019 because of eSports popularity. Currently, students in the club are playing Overwatch, but other games like Rocket League and League of Legends can be played. In this club, students play video games against other schools to win prizes, such as monitors, keyboards and even scholarships. The club meets weekly during lunch, dates change but it is usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Beautify Fresno

by Joshua Butz

Ms. Anthony is the supervisor for the Beautify Fresno Club, which meets in S50 every Tuesday at lunchtime. The club’s next event is on November 4th, which is considered a “youth service.” The last three years, Fresno High has had the more volunteers for Youth Service Day than any other high school. Youth Service Day was started by the city of Fresno. Ms. Anthony said, “We want to honor Mayor Dyer’s challenge to Fresno.” The club’s goal is to give people pride in where they live and work, and everyone benefits from it. They have beautified Fresno by doing a mural at a new park, and they also do many clean ups, and paint address numbers.
