Girls Golf Team

by Ian Owdom

Girls Golf season has finally begun! Team captain Emily Addelesee shared, "Given that the team is so small, we have formed a tight relationship and can work together very well.” She continued, “Everyone comes out here ready to push each other to get better.”

The team had a previous match already where Emily won, but due to the small number of players, the win did not count towards the record. “Golf has changed my mind set to help me to be open to failure and learn from it,” Emily responded.

The Girls Golf team has another match at the Madera Country Club 9/21/23 against Matilda Torres.

Cross Country

By Jeremiah Gomez

Cross-Country season is back! It’s that time of the year for our runners here at Fresno High to show how skilled they are. They have been preparing hard for this season as they have been practicing and running since July.

The Fresno High Cross-Country Coaches are Mr. Campos, who is the boys' head coach, and Ms. Cortez, who is the girls' head coach. The Cross-Country team practices Monday through Thursday. On Mondays and Wednesdays, they run at Woodward Park from 6 pm to 8 pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they run here at Fresno High from 3:40 pm to 5 pm. On Fridays Mr. Campos calls it “Fun Friday” because they take a break and watch movies and play games with the team. About once a month they even have a potluck. Their Cross-Country meets happen on Saturdays and take place at a variety of areas like trails, beaches and parks.

Coach Campos has been coaching the Warrior Cross-Country team for nine years. He has always enjoyed his time as a coach for cross-country and he is preparing his team for another great and fun year. Sebastian Espinosa, a junior here at Fresno High and a member of the team, enjoys running and decided to join. This is his first year as a member of the team and a goal he has for this season is to run a 5-minute mile. Another first-time runner for the Cross-Country team Fabian Nunez, is a freshman, feels Cross Country will help him be more active. His goal this season is to just get better at running.

Cross Country is always accepting new runners to be a part of their team no matter how good your running skills are. If you are interested, go visit Coach Campos in S33.
