Fresno Flea is a Happening Place

Every second Saturday of each month, Fresno High school hosts an event called the Fresno Flea. It is a pop-up shop in their parking lot run by Fresno High community members that allows vendors to come and sell their products and/ or advertise their services. Some of the vendors are clubs from Fresno High, itself, run by their club advisors and students.

This month, it takes place on the twelfth of October from 10am to 2pm. The point of the Fresno Flea is to ensure that community members have a way to put out their work. From little homemade crochet art pieces to big collectible plushies, there are many things that could interest you. There are vendors who sell second-hand clothes and games, some sell home goods like candles or kitchenware. There are also vendors that sell baked goods like bread and candies, and food trucks.

One of the clubs that participated in this event is the Mud Club, run by Mrs. Neito, the FHS ceramics teacher. Members of the Mud Club take the Fresno Flea as an opportunity to sell their creations and save up that money to fund their club. If they are lucky enough, they can even go on field trips.

“I love that the Fresno Flea has local businesses that sell their products to families in the community,” said Alyca Jones.

Kicking it off with the pink

By Corina Lopez

Fresno High School’s annual tradition of Pink Out returned on October 18, 2024, at the Sunnyside High School Stadium. The Pink Out game has existed for over 10 years now. It’s a popular event that ultimately promotes Breast Cancer Awareness and its survivors, but also gives reason for more boys to deck out in pink. Students showed their support to those fighting and have beaten breast cancer by wearing pink ribbons in their hair as well as pink shirts and socks.

Despite the scoreboard, students had fun while making TikToks, visiting the snack bar, and participating in Fresno High Leadership’s spirit chants. Fresno High cheerleaders are ecstatic about their new pink outfits and the crowd is excited to see the football players wearing pink sleeves. Darrell Austin passionately stated that the Pink Out game is “super cute, super serving, and super supportive.”
