The donation chairs inside the van.

Bathroom passes going digital

By: Cadence Allen- entertainment editor

The app known as 5 Star Student is taking a more substantial role on Fresno High School’s campus. Students should already be vaguely familiar with the app and its function on student mobile devices. 5 Star has been used as a student ID for all the 2023-2024 school year and can also identify off-campus passes for the seniors that have it.

The 5 Star app will now be implemented in every class to monitor students leaving and entering. Tablets with the 5 Star app will be used to sign in and out of class using 6-digit student ID numbers. Currently, the system is only designed to act as a bathroom pass, allowing seven minutes from check out to check in. Students are only allowed two bathroom passes a day. According to Mrs. Bangerter, the 5 Star app will eventually be used for other types of passes such as to the nurse's office, councilors, and Library.

Both students and teachers are adjusting to the new implication, and it will take some practice and patience to reach the full efficiency of the 5 Star app. Although, some students don’t appreciate the flaws of the app. Dee Torno Richers, a student at Fresno High, said, “If you’re going to have an app to help control those who skip class, fix all the functions of the app before launching it to the students.”

Warrior Fashion Show

by Vanessa Flores

The Warrior Fashion Show, now in its sixth year, took place on Friday, March 1. Organized and hosted by the FHSMB Boosters Club, this event aimed to raise funds for the FHS band. It featured a variety of stylish outfits created by booster Mrs. Angelica Figueroa, with contributions from the FHS warrior rack, La Tienda Guild Thrift Shop, and Men’s Warehouse.

Guests were treated to a showcase of five fashion sets during the show: two casual, two formal, and one set of quince dresses. The FHSMB provided musical accompaniment with performances of "By My Side," "Remembrance," "Harry Potter," and "Ascentium" between sets.

Models strutted across the stage in pairs or trios, giving attendees a closer look at the outfits before parading through the auditorium to express their gratitude. The show concluded with a surprise promposal from senior Daniel Valdivia to senior Alyssa Reyes, adding an unexpected and heartwarming touch to the event.
