Sock Drive
By Jessenia Varela Gomez
The Sock Drive was an event run by Fresno High’s Social Justice Club. They work to help advocate for others and amplify the voices of minorities. They have advocated for the homeless, Palestinians, and Murdered and Missing Indigeous Woman. Their goal with the recent sock drive was to help supply the homeless with warmer clothing for the colder Fresno nights. They were also collecting coats and blankets and other warm items.
The drive ran from January 13 till January 28, 2025, and collections were donated to a box in Ms. Ekparian’s classroom in N-20. In the end they ended up with about 200- 300 pairs of socks. A majority of these socks came from a woman in Los Banos. She caught wind of their cause through their social media post and reached out to say she had 200 pairs of extra socks she would like to donate. The club was thrilled to know that someone that was not even a part of the community was willing to donate such a large amount to help those in need. They specifically wanted to have this event to collect warm clothing for the colder months coming to the city since there is issue with the warming centers not wanting to open in Fresno. All the donations went to the “San Joaquin Valley Free Medical and Needle Exchange” clinic.
The president of the club Giselle Diaz a junior at Fresno High says, “Our goal is just to help empower the voices of those that are being silenced.”
Regional Orchestra
by Corina Lopez
On the evening of February 5, 2025, Fresno High School’s Orchestra department had yet again hosted their annual regional orchestra festival. The event took place in the Royce Hall auditorium from early on the school day to about 5:30 pm.
Fresno High’s regional middle and elementary schools were invited to showcase their first semester of hard work on their instruments and families were able to come and show support for their children during their evening concert.
Fresno High’s student musicians were thrilled to perform along with visiting schools in hopes of recruitment for the future generations of their music department. Advanced senior violist Juanjose Lopez described the event as an “emblem of a new musical generation” and said that being able to watch kids doing what he loves “warms his heart.”

CART Showcase
by Ashton Liberty
The CART Showcase is a yearly event hosted to present what the students have learned so far within their different labs. The showcase for the 2024-25 school year happened practically immediately after winter break on January 16. The showcase was filled with people viewing the students’ hard work. Each lab highlighted their own projects for the event. Psychology did illusions related to different brain parts, Forensics presented different evidence boards they created in the first semester, and Business was advertising for different Latin American food trucks, etc. “A nice professional experience,” shared Camila Rodriguez. The most popular lab was Business and Finance because it featured all the food like elote, brownies, drinks, and sweets. It was a successful event that night because the parking lots available were full. Another student, Devin Lopez, said, “It’s a great networking experience.” .
