City of Stars Winter Formal

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the Fresno High Senate hosted its annual winter formal at the Star Palace Ballroom. Doors opened at 7 PM and closed at 8 PM, allowing students an hour to arrive dressed and ready for an enjoyable evening. The Formal ran from 7 PM to 10 PM, and the Fresno High Senate dedicated significant effort to make the event a success. Staff members, including teachers, vice principals, and campus counselors, volunteered as chaperones to ensure that everyone had a fantastic time. A photographer captured moments of the attendees, along with the delightful Mrs. Sciacqua. The lively music created a sense of community throughout the dance. Ben Salkin was crowned the winter formal royalty. Overall, the Winter Formal was a beautifully planned event. “Formal was very beautiful,” remarked Fresno High student Oliver Buchanan.
FHS Will Miss Head Counselor

There are currently nine counselors at Fresno High. Mrs. Tess Seay, the head counselor, will be departing at the end of the semester. Before joining Fresno High, she spent five years at Reedley High and has dedicated 22 years to counseling at Fresno High. With her wealth of experience, she will truly miss the connections she has built, her incredible counseling team, and the vibrant warrior spirit of the school. In the future, Mrs. Seay will be working at The College and Career Readiness program, stating, “The College and Career Readiness offers more opportunities to assist students with financial aid and enhance financial aid accessibility.”
Fresno High Fall Sports Awards Night

On Monday, December 9, 2024, Fresno High School held their annual Fall Sports award banquet in Royce Hall.
Fall Sports: Unified Soccer, Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Girls Golf, Boys' Water Polo, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, and Football.
There were a variety of awards won such as the Coach’s Award, Best Offensive Player Award, Best Defensive Player Award, Rookie of the Year Award, MVP Award, and many more.
The Tennis teams coach started a new award last year in memory of a player that passed away in a tragic accident, the player had a spirit and was a glow on the team, it was named after her, called the Elsa Cisneros Award for Spirit, and Arionna West won the award this year.
One person from each Fall Sports team got an award for Pursuing Victory with Honor. In Boys Cross Country, Ray Cuevas won the award. in Girls Cross Country, Liliana Cuevas won the award. In Football, Demaria Pickett won the award. In Girls Golf, Eden Levatt won the award. In Girls Tennis, Danae Gutierrez won the award. In Girls Volleyball, Marisol Robinson won the award. In Boys Water Polo, Adam Gardea won the award. Lastly in Unified Soccer, Matthew Sengphong won the award.
The Girls Cross Country team won the NYL championships.
Bailey Cota, Liam Wright, and Murphy Leech all won NYL 1st team All-League. From the Girls Tennis team, Bailey Cota, got League MVP. From the Boys' Water Polo team, Murphy Leech, got Goalkeeper of the Year. Also from the Boys' Water Polo team, Liam Wright, got League MVP.
Adam Gardea from the Boys' Water Polo team comments, “When I won the Pursuing Victory with Honor award I felt like a true Warrior.”
