Planning for the Future: Career Fair 2026
by Ian Owdom
On February 26, 2025, Fresno High hosted its latest Career Fair, one of the largest events of its kind the school has ever seen. Representatives from various organizations and programs, including UC Merced, SPCA, and youth leadership initiatives, were on hand to offer internships, job opportunities, candy, and fun trinkets. "I did thirty pushups and got this awesome sweater from the Coast Guard!" exclaimed Bryce Powell, a junior.
Among the most sought-after positions were those at the renowned Island Water Park, where lifeguard roles were available. Employees could earn $16 an hour while becoming lifeguard certified and working as lifeguards throughout the summer season. The role requires minimal aquatic experience and offers a flexible schedule of up to 40 hours per week.
In addition to job and internship opportunities, the Career Fair also highlighted business prospects. EECU provided valuable information on their financial services eligibility. As a non-profit, EECU allows students to remain members for life, even after graduation. If you have some spare time, consider volunteering at the largest animal center, the SPCA, which has been operating since 1983. Over 80% of SPCA staff members are volunteers.
