Fresno High Boys’ Soccer

February NYL and Playoff Games

by Levi Gagliano-Bingham- Social Media

On February 6, 2024, Fresno High School Boys Soccer won their league. It was a home game against Madera South that ended in a tie, but this was good enough to send the Warriors into playoffs and win the North Yosemite League, something they had not achieved since 1971.

A few weeks later, on the fourteenth of February, Fresno High hosted a playoff game against Liberty High School that went into overtime. The score was 2-1, the first goal was scored by Tranquilino Lopez and the winning goal was scored by Luis Quintanilla, assisted by Adrian Rios.

The following game took place at Fresno High again against El Diamante High School. This game was highly anticipated as both teams “went into a dog fight,” explained goalie Nate Ceballos. After 120 minutes (about 2 hours) of hard play, the game was taken into penalty kicks after two sets of overtime. Sadly, the Warriors lost 6—5 in penalties, ending their journey toward a Valley Championship.
