War Movie and Shows

When it comes to shows and movies there are several different genres to watch. To me the genre that holds a special place in my heart is war movies. War movies are just such a cool genre to watch and so different from other types of movies. These are my top 5 war movies and shows that I recommend and would rewatch.

  1. Band of Brothers

Band of Brothers is a war show based on World War 2. It is one season and 10 episodes long and it follows a bunch of different and real stories of actual war veterans from east company. It is based on the book “Band of Brother” by Stephen E. Ambrose. It was a very entertaining show that takes you in dept following what was known as the east company. and it is definitely worth watching.

2. Masters of the Air

Masters of the Air is a war show based on the air bombers during World War 2. It focuses on two friends known as Buck and Bucky played by Callum Turner and Austin Butler. It shows them as flyers of the airplanes that were used to drop bombs during the Second World War. It was an interesting watch and even shows the American soldiers held in German prisons being relieved and taking over camps. It was a fun watch and made me want to read the book as it was my favorite show.

3. The Pacific

The Pacific is war show based on the war in the pacific fought against the Japanese. It shows many different stories of all the characters. It's based on real war veterans and every episode starts off with an interview with the remaining veterans. In the end we even get to see more about them and what they went on to-do after the war and later in life until their death. It was my first non-World War 1 or 2 related watch and was very interesting to say the least.

4. All Quiet on the Western Front

All Quiet on the Western Front is a war movie based on the semi- auto biography of Erich Maria Remarque who was a German WW1 veteran. Different to all the others I've watch it is based on a German soldier during the first world war. It shows how war was like during that time. It follows Paul and his friends as they enlist during the war and ends in Paul being the last one standing before he dies. It definitely was something different but was arguably my favorite movie I watched.

5. 1917

1917 is a movie about two British soldiers moving from their camp to one of the soldiers' brother’s camp to tell him classified information that could save 1,600 of their fellow soldiers. During the journey the soldier known as Lance Corporal Blake dies and it's up to Lance Corporal Schofield to deliver the message to Blake’s brother. It was a stressing watch as they were on a time limit because they needed to tell them the information before they all potentially died, and he had to cross enemy territory. It is a good movie that I would recommend watching.
