CTE Addition in the Spotlight

by Daniel Pursell

Fresno High has been working on a new building for over a year now and it was revealed on November 19, 2021. The CTE (Career Technical Education) construction classes, HVAC, film, and technology classes are all going to be occupying the space in the building. It has upstairs and downstairs, just like New North and New South. Upstairs is for film/technology classes and downstairs is for more of the construction things.

“Our new Career Technical Education building is a state-of-the art building with career programs for the 21st Century,” explained an elated Ms. Shabazz. “Our students will be trained on industry specific equipment and tools, including full operational HVAC equipment and a Forklift simulator. Our Video Production and Film classes have access to a video studio with a control room, podcast room, and whisper room for recorded and live streaming events.”

Many important local leaders came for the unveiling, for example, Fresno Mayor Mr. Jerry Dyer, FUSD Superintendent Mr. Bob Nelson, and principals from other Fresno Unified schools. Much of the event centered around speeches and tours. Plaques were hung and Principal Laettner and CTE Coordinator Ms. Keisha Shabazz used giant scissors to cut the ceremonial ribbon.

CTE classes began the official move in December, and Ms. Shabazz promised that “beginning in 2022, we will officially introduce the Warrior Health Career Program which will specialize in Community Health Workers and Medical Translation Services.”
