This year, entertainment was provided by Dwight Yoakam, Ice Cube, Queen Nation, Cruising to the Souldies, Banda Cuisillos y El Coyote, The Pretty Reckless, Tower of Power and Paul Rodriguez, Midland, Dana Carvey, Phil Wickham, Ladies Night Out, Ft. The variety of foods at the fair was still center stage. They had corn dogs, hot dogs, chicken tenders, pizza, kettle corn, cotton candy, and so much more. Then there were the rides, face painting, venders, exhibitions, and the animals. It was a good time for all ages.

Art hop is a local event held in Downtown Fresno, California. This event has become embedded into Fresno’s culture for the past 23 years. Art hop is a free-of-charge welcoming environment down the entire street of Fulton. The event is held every first Thursday and last Thursday of each month. However, due to covid, Art hop is now held only on the first Thursday of every month.

Art hop features several vendors each month, the possibilities of what is sold at this event are endless! There is truly something for everyone at this all-inclusive event. Vendors sell clothes, candles, fragrances, paintings, resin art, crochet art, clothing pieces, and even plants. Bands, as well as solo artists often perform at Art hop on the stage embedded into Mariposa St. Each is willing to share their creativity and talent with the guests. “The ambiance was peaceful, as well as welcoming” Bella Ybarra-Zavala.

Bullard’s School Lunch Surveys

by Kailey Espinoza

In 2021-2022, Bullard High School students of the Law and Advocacy Club completed a project where they observed the food served by the cafeteria. Their initial goal was to implement more fresh fruits and vegetables into campus nutrition. The club was able to collaborate with local companies and succeeded in trial runs. Bullard came to the realization that school lunches were part of a greater problem in the Fresno Unified School District. Toward the end of the 2021-2022 school year, Law and Advocacy presented to the FUSD superintendent, assistant superintendent, and board members showcasing the average school lunch eaten typically by a Fresno Unified School District student. “They weren’t always so happy about that, they didn’t necessarily like it,” commented Celia Lopez, the Law and Advocacy advisor at Bullard.

Bullard’s students paid a visit to Fresno High School to serve Fresno High’s Leadership students and ASB Officers school lunch. Law and Advocacy members gathered their intel on the student’s opinions by providing a survey.
