Don’t think tennis is a competitive sport? Then meet Serenity Vang, aka, Seren to close friends. Serenity is our 17-year-old varsity tennis player that has been playing for three years. She plays both singles and doubles but will mostly be playing singles this year.

Serenity’s favorite thing about the sport is interacting with her fellow teammates and how playing with them brings them all closer together. She is also involved with Link Crew, Class of 22, and choir. Serenity favors Class of 22 because she enjoys making Homecoming floats and planning out the events beforehand.

In her free time, she sings, does her homework, and makes friendship bracelets for her and her friends. Yamilex is one of her close friends and her inspiration. Serenity admires her hardworking attitude and how smart she is. Serenity’s friends will always be her motivation because they will never let her slack off.

FHS football might be back especially with number 77 on the field. This is Adrian Isaac Enriquez, he plays center and d- tackle on the Fresno High football team. He is a senior and he is 16 years old.

Adrian has been playing football for 11 years now. He said his favorite thing about playing football is hitting the other players, he likes the adrenaline rush he gets from cracking the other team. He does not play any other sport because he is locked in on football.

During his free time, you can catch him in the weight room working out or at home playing video games. He said the person who has inspired him the most is himself because he said he is always in competition with himself to make himself better. Adrian said his family inspires him because they have supported him for the whole of 11 years. He said that he wants to be a good example for his brother who is also on the team. He is out there leading the Warriors to victory and, hopefully, bringing the Pig back.

Cross-Country

by Kayla Madrigal

Come out to classroom S33 to join Cross-Country practice every day but Sunday. Why no practice on Sunday? “Because it’s God’s Day,” revealed Coach Campos. There is practice on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, as well as afternoon practice on Tuesday and Thursday. On Saturday, the team travels to other locations to run. The team usually has races on Wednesday or Saturday. Everyone makes the team of course. There is no JV team, just a varsity team. A particularly important race is The Pig Race.

The girls captain, Alessandra Telles, is a sophomore and she has been running for eight years. Ms. Ali said she started running because “I wanted to run and get better.” She also stated that cross-country is a mental sport. Co-captain Matthew Gonzales also believes it is challenging work.

Coach Campos tries his best to motivate everyone on the team. He is flexible with working around people’s schedule so everyone can be on the team and practice. Attendance is particularly important to the team. Every single running is an important part of the team.
