Stunt Cheer

by Daisy Alvardao

This year's Stunt Cheer team began in February and their record ended 4 wins 3 losses. The last game was against Tulare Union. Stunt is an all-girl sports team and games are scored by who does each routine best. Each team has up to four routines and each routine consists of a partner stunt, a pyramid, and jumps. In a single game there are four quarters, quarter one is partner stunts, quarter two is pyramids, quarter three is jumps and tumbling, and quarter four is one whole routine, which is all three put together. Whichever team does the routing best gets the point.

Another Classic in the Books

by Matt Marquez

The Easter Classic is a baseball tournament hosted by Fresno High. This year was the 52nd Annual Tournament. Games were played everywhere but our warriors played all their games at John Euless Park, which is where Fresno City plays their games. The Classic features teams from all over the Valley from Buchanan to Madera.

The Warriors played four games and went 3-1 during the tournament, which wasn’t good enough to put them in the championship. In the first game, the Warriors beat East Bakersfield 12-6. Next came the second game where Fresno lost to the eventual champs Memorial 3-5. In the third game, the Warriors beat Crater (Oregon) 7-6, and in the final game, Fresno beat Garces 5-4.

In the championship game, the Central Grizzlies played San Joaquin Memorial at Buchanan Stadium where Memorial took the 52nd Easter Classic championship 4-2. The tournament MVPs were won by Drew Smith of Buchanan and Michael Klein of Central.

Unified Basketball

by Matt Marquez

Unified Basketball played like the Warriors they are. Led by Coach Julia Echeveste, the team practiced Tuesdays and Thursdays in the gym at lunchtime. So, what is Unified Basketball? It’s a co-ed team made up of ALPS athletes and peer ballers from the boys and girls Fresno High basketball teams. Together, they played on similar teams. One of their biggest wins was against the Bullard Knights in a 55 to 50 victory for the Warriors. Overall, the team finished the season with an impressive 2-3-1 record.
